UPPAbaby Eco-friendly Vista Reviews

rated 5 out of 5 Excellent Product and Customer Service
by ClaudioR , 2010-08-22

I'm very impressed with my new Uppababy Vista. After going back and forth researching the Uppababy Vista versus the Bugaboo Cameleon we decided to go with Uppababy. I couldn't justify paying $400 more for what amounts to a status symbol (Bugaboo). The Vista is very sturdy and has an intuitive functional design.
I had a minor issue with the bassinet not disengaging easily. When I wrote customer service for guidance, they responded within 30 minutes, made a suggestion and asked me to write back with the results of my efforts. When I wrote back saying the problem persisted, they responded with the FedEx tracking number of a replacement bassinet frame. Minor defects are common with anything you buy, but a company standing by their product and responding immediately is rare.

rated 5 out of 5 Very well engineered
by hubble15 from Honduras, 2010-08-22

We chose this stroller after researching & test-driving everything we could get our hands on. My wife took a liking to it immediately, and each stroller we tried after the Uppa just made her like it more. Our baby is 2 mos old now, so we've had time to live with it for a while, and we have no regrets! Some observations: it is very stable; the center of gravity is low enough and the wheels are wide enough that I don't worry at all about it tipping over. Contrast that w/ Stokke, which makes me cringe just looking at it. The bassinet is great (we haven't used the seat yet), and the adapter for our car seat works like a champ. Folding & unfolding are a snap once you figure out the trick. Very fluid: fold in 2 motions, unfold in one. It is a big stroller ... we'll buy a smaller one for air travel ... but it's engineered so well in so many ways. An example: the geometry b/t the handle & rear wheels is perfect; to go down stairs you apply a bit of pressure to the handle to lift the front wheels and then ease it down the stairs on the real wheels very smoothly. It drives straight & smooth, and turns on a dime. Overall, we're very happy with it, especially considering it comes w/ so many extras.

rated 5 out of 5 2.5 weeks and great so far
by N. Khokhani from Denver, CO, 2010-08-15

Baby was born 2.5 weeks ago and the Uppababy Vista has been great so far.

The included bassinet has been used a lot. We have the new one sleep in our room and we just keep him in the bassinet. We have paired this stroller with the Chico Keyfit 30 (with the adapter) and that has worked great as well.

The stroller is a little big, but it serves multiple purposes for us. We use it as a bed at night and as a stroller during the day.

New baby seems to love the stroller as he sleeps in it very soundly and enjoys walks in either the bassinet or the attached car seat.

Note: If you want a cup holder get the Baby Jogger Liquid Holser. It works much better than the UppaBaby cup holder accessory.

rated 5 out of 5 Fantastic

This is the ideal stroller for any parent in my opinion! I do suggest adding the car seat adapter to your purchase as well, after that this stroller does it all and is easy to transform, move, turn, etc. It travels nicely as well! I highly recommend it!

rated 5 out of 5 Best baby purchase we made
by E. Wolff from Chicago, IL USA, 2010-06-28

We got the Special Edition 2010 Vista in Maya/Yellow. Of all the things we bought before our baby arrived, this, hands down was the best decision we ever made. I must preface this by saying I live in a residential neighborhood in a big city where I can walk to stores and restaurants and most everything I need. And that's what we do, for exercise, because it's summer and because the baby and I love walking and being outside. We avoid the car at all costs. This stroller is perfect for the sort of lifestyle where you simply walk out the door and go. This is NOT the stroller to get if you will primarily be in and out of the car. There is nothing compact about it. It is the luxury SUV of strollers and if it fits your lifestyle it is worth every penny. We have a Baby Jogger City Mini that lives in my car and holds the car seat for car travel portability.

What we love:
- The bassinet. Our baby lives in it. We use it on the stroller and in the house. He sleeps in it even at night. He is growing and will need to move to the crib soon but with a newborn it has been a Godsend. The quality of the bassinet is far superior to any separate bassinet we saw for sleeping during the newborn period. So while the stroller is expensive, we saved money by not buying a newborn bassinet sleeping arrangement. We did splurge on the UPPAbaby basinette frame. It was extravagant but again, worht every penny. We have that frame upstairs in our bedroom and use the stroller frame downstairs for a daytime nap station.
- Tires don't need to be inflated.
- Big basket. I can put heaps of groceries in it. I am amazed at the weight it holds.
- Relatively smooth ride
- The look of it and I love the darker metal frame on the Maya Special Edition
- Still looks new... we've had no staining at all
- The mosquito net that goes over the bassinet. Perfect when we want to sit or garden in the backyard.
- The sun shade that comes all the way down
- Available adapters for Chicco, Graco and Peg Perego infant car seats
- Eco-Friendly materials and manufacturing
- The arched rear wheel axel that is totally out of the way so you don't kick it when walking. Why don't all strollers have this? I've gotten so used to it that when I use our City Mini I keep banging my ankles on the crossbar and it makes me nuts.

What we don't love but can live with:
- It is wide, no if's and's or but's. Even though the 2010 is supposed to be narrower I believe it is still the widest on the market by a little bit.
- Folding is a little weird. You almost feel like you're breaking the frame when you try to fold it. And it is definitely not compact when folded.
- Wish the bassinet rain cover came with it.

I can't comment on the stroller seat as my son is only 7 weeks old and is still in the bassinet. But from all of the positions I see for the seat I am sure I will love it just as much. But I will be so sad when he outgrows the bassinet.

One final note, I bumped into a woman today using the Vista frame with her car seat and when she saw my bassinet she said her son wouldn't go anywhere near the bassinet. She said he hated it and only wanted his car seat. I said, funny, my son lives in his bassinet and loves it and doesn't like his car seat. If my son didn't like it that would certainly impact the value I have gotten from this stroller so far. I would be really bummed if he hated it. If you get it before your baby is born just be aware that all babies are different and there is a chance your little one won't like it. But we have gotten so much use out of it that it is the best baby purchase we made.
